Inside the magazine, 15 pages are devoted to South Australia, as the journalist describes his trip "to the end of the world", which he took across the Eyre Peninsula and up to Coober Pedy and Arkaroola.

The article is a direct result of one of more than 160 familiarisation trips by journalists funded each year by the South Australian Tourism Commission, often in conjunction with Tourism Australia.

These familiarisation trips result in millions of dollars worth of editorial appearing in magazines and newspapers around the world each year.

Lonely Planet Magazine has a monthly print run of 70,000 copies, targeting 'affluent, highly educated, engaged consumers with a sense of adventure' in one of South Australia biggest international markets - the UK.
